Videoinstallation in Stuttgart, 14.01. – 28.01.19

New Year’s reception. The artists are present.
25.01.18 Althoff Hotel am Schlossgarten, Stuttgart

NORM IST F!KTION #4 NAF will appear as hairy muses on the popular video walls in Stuttgart:

Pragsattel, 24.01. – 26.01.2019, at the airport and the fair 14.01. – 28.01.2019

They convey their work with a New Year’s reception at the Althoff Hotel am Schlossgarten, with sparkling wine and canapés. In addition, they celebrate the personal delivery of the oil painting by artist Mary Sherman herself. NAFs longstanding allies Franciska Zólyom, curator of the German Pavillion at Venice Biennale in 2019, and Martina Grohmann, director of the Theater Rampe, will give keynote speeches.

NORM IST F!KTION #4 is part of a artistic concept realized by NAF since 2014.

The artists are currently working on a cycle of exhibitions and performances on the subject on silence and otherness in public space. Posters, banners and short video clips show a double portrait of Hülsewig and Schrade. Inspired by the flemish portrait paintings of the 17th century, pure silk frills grace both of their necks, their upper body are hairy, one is black, the other reddish and it seems like they gaze after the viewer. Thus they evade aesthetic expectations of human bodies, their features of male and female and of youth and flawlessness. To be seen is an image and explicitly no advertisement. There are no indications of dates, names and locations. Contrary to the ubiquitous peremptory consumption in public space stands the purpose-free, pure art. NAF raises questions about aesthetic and lifestyles beyond standardized but arbitrary code of conduct in our cities.

Who owned the public space before the transfer to financially sound investors – and which counter-orders can be made by which means? The urban space is full of obsolete standards. It’s part of NAFs artistic work to occupy and overwrite these spaces, and to create new space for someone and something else. They represent all those who do not identify themselves with these places. For this purpose they capture places, they are given to them for free and now – beyond their means – they have rented the Althoff Hotel am Schlossgarten. Not like Spitzweg “The Poor Poet”, no, it’s not about poverty, it’s about appreciation of the other and the place we want to give him.

The normal price of this event is 25,-€. By making a contribution of 50,- € you will by supporting the work of NAF.

Sparkling wine and canapés are included in the offer!
